The holidays are just around the corner. And even though you’ve spent a greater part of this year feeling like it’s a never ending holiday stuck at home, make the most of the last month by entertaining yourself with this selection of holiday movies. Move from your work desk to your media room, find the snack of your choice, gather your family around and binge watch this list. There’s something in here for everyone.

1. Christmas Chronicles (kids/family): This is the story of Kate and Teddy Pierce – siblings who concoct a grand scheme to “capture” Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. With a starcast that includes Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, the story unfolds with the scheme going belly up, forcing the sibling children to encounter Saint Nick himself, to save the holiday before it’s too late.

2. A California Christmas (kids/family): A rich and established businessman is gunning for a promotion at work. But to win it, he must convince a farmer to sell her family property. To do so, he pretends to be a farmer too, which poses to be a huge task considering his casual carefree roots in the city!

4. Holidate (romcom): The idea of being single on a holiday centred around togetherness is one that daunts many people. Two strangers, both fighting the sadness of their singledom, decide to be each other’s platonic plus-ones all year long. Of course, real feelings begin to develop and take them by surprise as the year unfolds.

5. Jingle Jangle A Christmas Journey (kids/family): This one is for lovers of fantasy and magic, as it brings together some mysticism with holiday themed entertainment. A toymaker creates an imaginary world that comes to life, thanks to a magical invention that can turn his life around.

6. A Christmas Carol (family): A grouchy mean-spirited old man who hates the holidays and Christmas season is visited by the ghost of an old business partner, and later by three ghosts, resulting in a rib-tickling story of reinstating the Christmas spirit.

7. Jingle All The Way Part 1 (family): A workaholic father who constantly disappoints his son, vows to get him his favourite action figure for Christmas. As luck would have it, every store is sold out, and what ensues is a wild-goose chase around town to find the perfect gift to make it up to his son.

8. Jingle All The Way Part 2 (family): Part 2 in the franchise is equally heart-warming and entertaining, tells the story of Larry wants to gift his daughter a doll that she wants so desperately. He is up against his daughter’s step father who is also set to buy her the same doll in a race to be the better father.

9. Polar Express (kids/family): This is an animated inspiring adventure of a boy who discovers a newfound confidence and belief in himself when he takes a magical train ride to the North Pole.

10. Deck the Halls (family): A suburban father’s perfect suburban life is mildly interrupted by the arrival of his new neighbour, who wants to illuminate his home for Christmas so it is visible from space. A neighbourhood competition ensues, with the Christmas spirit hanging in the balance!
